The American League East is not the Best Division—At Least Not Now!
The American League is consistent from year to year. Boston and New York are in the upper tier in terms of performance. The other three are usually average or at the bottom of the pack.

Abreu felt he singlehandedly cost the Yanks their shutout win against their archrival. He also felt bad about it. Despite the missed opportunity that came when J.D. Drew’s ball glanced off Abreu’s glove and over the wall for a homer, there isn’t much to feel bad about with Wang this season.
A bunt single by Coco Crisp in the ninth might have alleviated some of Abreu’s guilt and the possible torment of a one-hitter for Wang.
Well, the few Yankee fans that made their way to Fenway Park with their New York Yankees Products got a win against their rival, and they will take a win any way they can get it.
The Toronto Blue Jays limped into Texas having lost all three games at home to Oakland. If the Blue Jays had to pick a stadium to play at to stop the bleeding, then it definitely would not have been Rangers Ballpark in Arlington, TX.
They have a poor history of getting wins in Texas. They have gone 6-22 in Arlington the past six years.
The Blue Jays knew what had to be done to break their misery of not getting enough wins in Arlington. Their bats woke up and got 13 hits, as the Blue Jays got the win 8-5 to momentarily stop the bleeding.
They need that win because for two reasons: to stop their three game skid and also to win at Rangers Ballpark.
The Blue Jays manager stated that he hasn’t felt horrible at the beginning of the season as he did when they lost three in a row. He felt they were better than they showed. He also pointed out that they beat Boston three games in a row in the series before.
Blue Jays fans thought this would be their year after they swept the defending World Series champions. More Toronto Blue Jays Gear was bought as they hoped they would start racking up wins against both good and mediocre opponents. They quickly dismissed that idea after being swept by Oakland.
When was the last time the Orioles were in first place for about a week in the American League East Division? It has been a while because the Yankees and Red Sox have dominated the first and second place spots for some time now.
The Orioles don’t need anything to get in their way of slipping out of first place. Unscheduled doubleheaders have a way of causing problems for the managers of the teams involved in the games. Steve Trachsel was supposed to pitch in Texas on Wednesday, but the game was rained out and rescheduled for Thursday.

The Rays are the only team in their division who is below 0.500. This year their stadium has seen an increase in attendance. As a result, more Tampa Bay Devil Rays Gear has been bought.
